Meet our support staff
While not advocates or attorneys, these staff members are vital just the same.
Ping Louie
Ping Louie has been with SLA since 2008. She is the Coordinator of Reimbursements. Ping’s work utilizes her organizational skills and patience. Among her tasks are amassing documentation from clients and private schools, tracking and expediting the exchange of papers and documents between SLA and school districts, tracking the status of settlement agreements and hearing awards, and obtaining payments from the school boards. We are lucky that Ping has the skills to do this job well, so that most of our clients are able to obtain their settlements or awards in a relatively timely fashion.
Ping has a B.A. from Brooklyn College. Her organizational skills and patience are renowned throughout the office.
Louis Chi
Louis Chi is our Impartial Hearing Coordinator. He has been with SLA since 2009.Louis works closely with our affiliated attorneys in preparing cases for hearing. He is responsible for scheduling hearing days. He oversees the collection and distribution of evidence. He tracks cases that have begun, so he can provide updates to our clients.. In these and many other ways, Louis provides support to our affiliated attorneys and our clients, ensuring that the hearing process runs as smoothly as possible.
Louis has his B.B.A. from Baruch College and is fluent in Mandarin.
Jenn-Marie Grant
Jenn-Marie runs the front desk for SLA. She holds a B.A. in psychology from SUNY Stony Brook University and is currently a Master’s candidate at the City College of New York for General/Experimental Psychology. Growing up with a younger sibling diagnosed with autism, Jenn has a unique perspective of the many challenges that families of children with special needs face every day.
Jenn-Marie also has experience serving her community as a national volunteer (AmeriCorps VISTA), helping to build community capacity using an asset-based methodology. She joined SLA in 2011.
Arthur Luger
Arthur Luger is the Business Manager of SLA. Art obtained his current position through nepotism. His background fits in perfectly with advocacy, as his interests are mathematics and theoretical physics.
When he is not gadding about the office, you can find his work on www.lugerdude.com. It is also not uncommon to find the office cluttered with his geek books and papers.
