 | The SLA Special Education Advocacy Process starts with an initial 90- | |
| minute consultation conducted by Susan Luger herself. | ||
| You bring all documentation that you have related to the education of your | |
| child -- school reports, letters to/from the school concerning your child, reports from doctors or other health specialists, IEP's, etc. | ||
| You and Susan will discuss your hopes and realistic goals for your child. | |
| Susan will help you formulate a strategy for achieving these goals. | |
| Susan may suggest you obtain additional evaluations and/or reports | |
| designed to clarify and strengthen your position with the Special Education team. | ||
| If you agree with the strategy, only then do you commit to retain Susan | |
| Luger Associates, Inc. |

| When You Retain Susan Luger Associates, Inc. |
| Our special education advocacy tram will walk you through the Special | |
| Education process: |
 | We help you communicate with the Special Education division of your | |
| local school district. | ||
| We help you understand your legal obligations in this process so as | |
| to insure your child's rights. | ||
| We will work with you to make sure you are ready to present your | |
| case to the Committee on Special Education ('CSE'). | ||
| Our trained advocates will accompany you to CSE meetings. | |
| Our advocates are available to observe programs with you and | |
| evaluate their appropriateness for your child. | ||
| Our advocates will address your day-to-day concerns that inevitably | |
| arise during this process. |
| Our goal is to obtain appropriate services and/or placement at the CSE | |
| level. | ||
| If we cannot obtain the services and/or placement at the CSE level, we will | |
| take the steps necessary to prepare for litigating our case: |
| We will prepare and file a Request for Hearing specifically tailored to | |
| the facts of your case. | ||
| We will make every effort to negotiate an appropriate settlement with | |
| the school district. | ||
| If settlement cannot be reached, we will work closely with the attorney | |
| to prepare a strategy for your case. | ||
| We will provide expert testimony, where appropriate, concerning the | |
| CSE process. |
